Sponsorships

We would like to increase our sponsor waiting list.

What is the sponsor waiting list?
This is a list a person it placed on who has expressed thier interest in sponsoring a child, but there is no available child at that moment that needs a sponsor.

We as much as possible like to keep a close relationship between the sponsor and the child and encourage their relationship to carry on after they've left the orphanage.  We'd like to see the sponsors help the child into and though college and maybe on through life, because once and orphan they will always be an orphan.   We hope that the relationship created between the sponsor and the child can become, in small way  something they can call their family.  Don't let the word college scare you, it's only $300 to $1000 a year most of the time and a normal sponsor funds can stay pretty much the same and be of great help.
The main reason we don't stack sponsors to a single child, like some larger organizations do.
We do how ever make exceptions where a family wishes to cover half the sponsorship and share their relationship with the child, with another family.

Anyways all that being shared is that our sponsor list is bare, we have no back up sponsors on the list right now.
We do have a 1/2 a sponsorship available right now for an older boy, if a family wishes only to pay $30  month.

We are also praying about taking a few more children and increasing our numbers to possible 44.
In order for us to do that we need to feel that there is always a sponsor ready to help.

So if your interested in placing you name on a waiting list, go to this link and Mary will contact you with details about sponsoring.

One thing that we are asking is that you please pray about this consider the long term relationship with the child before making a commitment.

Lastly you don't have to sponsor a child to be of great help to us, you can help us cover staff salaries.
There is the electric bill too if you want help cover those type needs that aren't as popular and if you wish I'll write you "shocking" little letters from time to time thanking you for that ;).

Thank you for prayerfully considering these needs and letting us know.

Were coming in June

I know its May and your probably rubbing your hands together in anticipation of that PHAT tax return to show up in the mail any day now.  Or perhaps you've already gotten it and you have no idea how to put it to it's best use.

Well I am here today to jingle that "can" that says me, me, me!

We are hoping to get 160 more people to help the school this year giving as little as $100. or more will fund the new buildings and add to some restrooms to the church property.
There is a paypal link on our web page.  http://www.agreaterhopeorphanage.org/needs.php
But with a check to the church we receive more of the funds.

So many people can attest to the great work going on here in Takeo.  We always have to give the glory to God and be thankful for those who co-labor with us.

We have a massive amount planned in the next couple months; with the children's vacation, Saveoun to graduate, teams coming and projects to complete.  I think there is nearly 75 people scheduled to come this Summer.

Lastly we "the Carson's" are planning to be in USA around June 5th to July 9th.  We're working on the plane tickets at the moment.   We plan to be in Fallbrook somewhere in the middle of that time.  We are open to speaking with anyone who wished to meet with us.  Once we get the tickets and the dates are firm we'll announce it and I hate to say it but reservations will probably have to me made.  It would be best if much of our meetings could be around the Fallbrook area and neighboring cities.  Also due to the lack of time it might be considered that meetings take place in a public setting so that multiple families can gather or invite families to your home.  This way we can reach all who wish to be reached with out loosing our voices, also with the baby and our boy it would be helpful especially to Ream.

Ream's desires are to eat at Deny's, Home Town Buffet and Claim Jumper.
Ream would like to take the kids to Sea world, the Zoo and, or Disneyland if possible.

I would enjoy eating a lot of Mexican food and a trip to Costco.

The main purpose of this trip is to speak, share, encourage and inspire you with the work being done here and how your support is making these things possible.

thank you all

Thank You For All Your Prayers

Last week we asked for all of your prayers over the alter call that would be giving at our school this past Wednesday.  So here is the results of all the hard work and prayers.
These are the children that opened the doors of their hearts and became Christians

I think nearly everyone raised their hands, I even see many of my own children raising their hands.  So we had to clarify the next morning in class who was a new believer and wanted to get a bible.
We haven't included 1st or 2nd grade and we haven't been able to speak to the public school kids yet.
Out of the 88 children in grades 3, 4, 5 & 6;  76 have requested a bible.  For the children that did not accept Christ Ly, will go over a knowing God study again while the new believers will start a New Believer study.

In a month or so once we have our plans together we should have a baptism.  What I think is exciting is a whole bunch of new believers running around the village telling everyone they got saved.  I think these first couple months were going to see some growth in the adult church as well.

Now if we could ask that you would keep these kids in prayer that God protects them, gives them strength and helps them to grow.

Alter Call

May 1st we will give our first alter call.

We had a bit of a holiday but now we are back and Wednesday after noon is going again.
We will do a bit of review tonight and next week we will ask the kids to accept Christ.
It's a week from now but if you'd like to make a stick note and pray with us for not only a good reception to what is taught but that the seed has been planted on good soil and that none that are raised up should fall away.

There are 3 photos here I had to splice together

We've hired a new gardener who we really hope will stay he seem to be a nice guy and were told is a hard worker.  He and his wife came for the interview and there is a sparkle in their eyes that most people don't have.  When we see it we have a good feeling that a right choice is being made and we get our hopes up.
It was also quite uncommon to see the wife answer most of the questions for the husband.  Normally they don't seem to know much about each other.  It was just a good experience.  He is the cousin of Own, Kyo, and Sreynygt.  On their holiday they asked him if hew wanted to come work for us that we had an opening.

We also interviewed Sdung's husband.  We believe he will start mid May once his work finds a replacement.
He will mostly work with the school but will help with repairs where needed.  He's a nice guy and very quiet.

We hired Ly (my assistant's) wife this month, so not the family is living with us.  This was a very good thing for the orphanage as they are quite the amazing couple.  They are extremely competent, strong Christians that have a great desire to help kids and advance the faith.

May 1st Sdung will change jobs and will work full time for the school.  When her husband starts they will move to a house they've rented here in the village.  Ream's uncle is renting them his second house for get this, a two story home I think 5 bed room for ,,, ready $50 a month.  I wish I would have know about it, $50 a month is just crazy.

So the orphanage and it's staff is dong really well right now.

At the school we interviewed 3 of the teachers that we will hire next year and we feel pretty confident in that.
So we got 3 junior high teachers with 30 years experience, one, Khmer, one chemistry  and one physic teacher.  It will cost us $450 a month for these three, I still think that is amazing.

I just love how things come together and who God puts in our path.

I'll let you know what happens next Wednesday May 1st.

Kit
