Good Stuff Happening

Last day of school was July 26

and a little party to boot.

Got to watch a some movie

Some games

Pres-school and Kindergarten got to learn how to make play dough and take it home.
This was probably the most popular event of the year for  P and K.

School's out but Wednesday Church Service continues and has been moved to 8 am.
70 children this morning.

There was also a little snack and we had some fun.

Wednesday 31st supplies for the new classrooms are being delivered today.

We could still use funds for the school buildings that have just started.  We got company to let us have the building supplies until we can any for them.  Just a hint if you want to still help.

Thursday workers here to lay new foundations.

We added some height to our railings.

We'll be adding 2 more bathrooms to the left of the cement rings.
All the flowers and shrubs were brought and planted by the children.  It really makes it look nice.

Also
We are no longer giving scholarships to children who can't afford to pay for school.
We've started a little micro farm/finance program with 15 of our students.
We've given them 5 chickens to raise with the food and feeders.
They'll be raising chickens to pay for their school fees.
So Tuesday the kids spent time out of class to learn how to raise them properly.

Wednesday the parents came with their children to also learn and take their chickens home.

Thursday our staff went out to the house to check on the children to make sure the chickens were okay.
This project has done more than we expected it to do.  For 1 their neighbors had never seen the white chickens before our their size.  The chickens are more than double the size of the Khmer chicken at 1 week.  Also it takes a Khmer chicken 6 months to get to 3 or 4 pounds where the white chicken is 5 pounds or more in 40 days.
The project brought a lot of attention to the school again and what's being done.
Also the parents really like it even though it has only be 1 day.  They said most of the time the kids are not at home they are off running around until lunch time or dinner.  Now the kids are around the house watching their chicken making sure they are okay.
I am always blessed to hear good stories come back from the little helps we offer.

Tuesday Meeting with the 2013-2014 teaching staff.
Trying to organize the new schedule and teachers passing on tips about their class to the next teacher.

If you didn't know,
A Heart for Wisdom school will include grades 7, 8 and 9 this year.  We will educate 33 of our children from the orphanage this year and we are projecting to have over 400 students for 13 classes.

AGHO got it's first cow.
We got her some shots and have already fattened her up a bit.

Finally to cap things off Joe turned 7 years old and is going to the 2nd grade.
Sam moves on to 4th grade.

There's a lot going on this summer.
