We shared this on Facebook earlier but in case your not on Facebook and missed it.
This morning we got a call from our cook, she was in the next town getting supplies. She told us the Prime Minister was there and headed to our province Capital in Takeo. The caravan was leaving and would be passing our school in a couple minutes.
It took a bit of convincing to get Ream to let the kids out of class, but it happened. We got everyone lined out on the road with some extra flags from the office. I felt it would be fun for the kids to at least say they saw him go by and head back to class. There was a small hope something more might happen but no real expectation.
I would say with in 5 minutes of getting the kids out, around the corner the police started driving by and the kids got all excited. Then before you know it they were pulling over and stopping traffic.
For me it was all quite sudden, with body guards, press, accountants running into the office asking questions and numbers.
Ream was extremely nervous as she has to remember her titles and speak a proper language. She told me later, "I didn't expect to be greeting the PM this morning".
Mr. Hun Sen asked about the school, numbers and things, size of the classes and how long we'd been there. As quickly as it all started it was over and they were moving on.
The kids were in a daze and the staff chattered on about the event for quite sometime. It was such an exciting buzz for them. I was very pleased over today's events.
Oh, Mr. Hun Sen also gave a little gift to all the kids and staff. Pretty cool.
